Preach it!

Jeff Hostetter preaches to the saints at the Konkomba family camp.  Saints from around this remote part of Ghana gather together to hear the Word of God preached.

Camp preaching

Jeff is seen preaching here through an interpreter.  One of the many challenges of evangelism in Ghana is to overcome the language barrier.  The Hostetter's learned the main local language of Twi, but there are many other languages or variations spoken throughout Ghana.

A Happy Camper

The great teaching at the camp encourages the heart and spirits of those who attend.  Pictured here is a one of the attendees who came all the way from the United States!

Calling all Truth seekers!

A group of people being encouraged during one of the many messages from the camp.

Diligent Listeners

More spiritual men getting equipped to take the Word of God to Africa and beyond.

Jeff and Kids

One of the most encouraging aspects about the camp is the number of youth who attend.  These are the ones who will take the message of the Gospel out in the years to come.

Perseverance

These three young men were the victory in the first road race at Konkomba Family Camp.  The race was about 1.5 miles to the local lake and back.  Physical competition is a great way to learn spiritual discipline in doing our best and giving it our all for Christ.

Joy in the Lord

Young attendees at the camp get excited for Jesus.  Kids are the most honest of all God's creation, and a great example of how we are to be innocent and trusting in our relationship with God.

Local Youth

Some children from a local village in Konkomba.  As can be seen the conditions are tough there.  Much of the Hostetter's time and resources are spent helping people with their physical needs so they can reach them with spiritual needs.

Cooking at Camp

Conditions are tough at this camp.  All who attend are a great example of persevering in the name of Christ, and making spiritual things a priority.

Not a Motel 6!

Accommodations at the camp are primitive at best.  A tent is about as good as it gets.  But the results of reaching souls for Jesus are worth it.

Camp Cook

Abby Yaya cooks up a meal for some of the camp attendees.

A USA Visitor

Keziah, a visitor in Ghana from Montana, USA, relaxes at the camp. Keziah came from Montana to be in the school and has done a great job stepping up being diligent at her school studies.

Another USA Visitor

Caleb Wilson is another visitor from the states who has had the opportunity to spend time with the Hostetters and was able to attend the Konkomba family camp.

Local Encouragement

A young Ghanaian encourages through teaching at the camp.  One of the goals of the Hostetter's missionary work has been to train up local men to spread the Gospel, as Paul did in the first century church.  The successful results of this can be seen here.

Preaching and Teaching

Red Rover, Red Rover

Keziah and some local youth play the ageless game of Red Rover, Red Rover.

Strong Man Competition

Jeff Hostetter organizd a strong man competition to engage some of the young men and youth.  Physical fitness is a great way to connect with them and to overcome some of the language barriers.

Throw that Rock!

One of the activities of the strong man competition was to throw a rock over a rope.  These young men have some muscles!

Sacked out

Two of the attendees get some rest during the camp.  The activities and heat help them to sleep good when they get the chance.

Local Konkomba Village

Crikey!

Jeff Hostetter surveys the waters in preparation for a swim.  For the most part, the waters are safe, and a swim comes in handy for cooling off from the various activities.

Can you imagine the size of the ants?

That is an ant hill pictured behind the young man.  The ants in Ghana build these enormous ant hills.  Fortunately, the ants are not interested in humans. : )
